IKT Fellowship is the most senior membership grade awarded by the IKT for outstanding professional achievement and contribution to the furtherance of the Knowledge Transfer profession.

Fellows will normally be able to demonstrate that they have :

  1. been involved in KT for at least 7 years after graduation
  2. reached high levels of competence in KT at leadership level
  3. achieved professional success in KT, recognised by peers
  4. regularly updated their own skills and knowledge through continuing professional development (CPD)
  5. shown encouragement of others in KT , particularly those at the start of their career
  6. made an outstanding contribution to the furtherance of the KT profession
  7. gained the support of at least 2 Members of the IKT (for existing Members upgrading) or at least 3 Fellows of the IKT (for those not already Members)


There are two routes to IKT Fellowship.

  1. Route One - if you are an existing full Member of the Institute
  2. Route Two - for individuals who are not already Members of the Institute
  3. Become a fellow by applying here.

Route One - if you are an existing full Member of the Institute

If you are already MInstKT, you may

  • request an upgrade to Fellowship, or
  • be approached to put yourself forward for Fellowship

You must complete a personal statement of up to 1000 words covering the criteria for Fellowship set out in the guidance notes. Your statement should be emailed to the Chairman of the Membership and Professional Standards Committee (ian.harrison@ikt.org.uk) along with:

  • the details of 2 sponsoring IKT Members
  • any changes or updates to your role or employment status since your membership acceptance

Route Two - for individuals who are not already Members of the Institute
If you are not already a Member of the Institute you may either:

  • apply for Fellowship personally, or
  • be proposed for Fellowship by three existing Fellows of the IKT.

You should complete the application form for Membership (MS Word) and e-mail it to the Chairman of the Membership and Professional Standards Committee (ian.harrison@ikt.org.uk) including either

  • your own personal statement of up to 1000 words within the application form (as above) accompanied by your CV and the details of 3 sponsoring Fellows of the IKT, OR
  • an equivalent statement signed and sent by three sponsoring Fellows of the IKT on your behalf and with your signed agreement, providing the details as set out in the guidance document and your CV
